Lhermitte-Duclos Disease: An Asymptomatic Case

Abstract: Lhermitte-Duclos disease is a rare disorder of cerebellum that characterized by a slowly enlarging mass lesion. The exact nature of the pathogenesis of this lesion remains unclear. It most frequently seen between the 2nd and the 4th decades. In elderly ages is extremely rare. Some authors proposed that it could be diagnosed by neuroimaging findings without a pathological examination. In this report, we described a 65- year- old man, who had Lhermitte-Duclos disease which was diagnosed by MRI findings.

Abstract: Growing skull fractures are poorly understood complications of pediatric skull fractures. The incidence of growing skull fractures ranges from less than 0.05% to 1.6%. The pathophysiology and some aspects of its management are still controversial. The most frequent location of Growing skull fractures was in the parietal and parieto-occipital region. Generally the patients suffered from headhache, vomiting and epileptic attacks. Every child with a skull fracture must be followed until the fracture heals

Analyzing Extradural Haematomas: A Retrospective Clinical Investigation

Abstract: In this study, of 3462 cases admitted with cranial trauma between 1992 and 2000. The 115 cases that were diagnosed as extradural haematoma (EDH), were analyzed to obtain the outcome of extradural hematomas.Each patient was evaluated retrospectively in terms of age, sex, and models of injury, localization of the haematoma, origins of bleeding, neurological findings and diagnostic investigations. The outcomes for each patient were retrieved and analyzed, and the chi–square test was used in the statistical analyses.Of all the patients in this group, 88 (76%) were male and 27 (24%) were female, of the patients, 70% were between 10-40 years old. The outcomes showed a significant correlation with Glasgow Coma Scale score, pupillary sizes, and pyramidal signs (p <0.05).The radiologic findings of the the size hematoma, the degree of the brain shift, significantly correlated with outcome (p < 0.05). Factors such as coma, pupil alterations, volume of haematoma, presence of pyramidal signs, midline shift, and lucid interval the existence of local motor findings are risk factors for the outcome in patients with EDH.

Abstract: Migration is described as the act of flee from the damages of war or natural d？sasters and to go to places seen secure, purposing to sustain life security. As all the other systems, migration lived today affects the very roots of health services. As a result of migration, various systems are trying to cope with insufficiency: and the health services are one of those systems that are going through many changes and interactions within their selves as a result of these migrations. This research is based on immigrant refugees who went to the province Kilis. It is designed to find out the impact on the increase in demand for health care where the immigrants went to. During the research in the providence it is consist between the dates. Between the dates it was run, the scope of the research were the health services suppliers, professionals and health planners within the city of Kilis. Among the simple random sampling method we have chosen for qualitative applying interview methods. According to the results of the growing intense population in the field is the reason for increasing demand the health care. Because of this new situation the high needs for health care caused for many problems at the same time

Abstract: Melanotic neoplasm of the central nervous system is rare and the majority of them are metastatic. Melanotic schwannoma (MS) is an unusual variant of nerve sheath neoplasm accounting for less than 1% of primary nerve sheath tumors. Infectious agents and antibiotic susceptibility in neurosurgery intensive care unit

Abstract: Aim: Knowing the most frequent causative agents and their sensitivities to antibiotics may contribute to use of appropriate antibiotics. In this study, we aimed to inves-tigate the agents and their antibiotic sensitivity which is isolated from intensive care unit of neurosurgery clinic.Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was performed from 2001 to 2005 at the Neurosurgery inten-sive care unit of Dicle University, Diyarbakir. The pa-tients charts who were followed up more than 48 hours in intensive care unit and their culture results were inves-tigated.Results: There was 457 of 2197 patients which were operated in neurosurgery clinic and it was obtained 1155 culture samples from these patients in five years period. 317 positive cultures were obtained from 123 patients including 73 cerebrospinal fluid, 45 wound, 47 deep tra-cheal aspirate, 96 were urine samples, 27 blood sam-ples and 29 venous catheters samples. Mostly Staphilo-coccus aureus and coagulase negative staphylococcus (CNS) were growth in cultures. From the cerebrospinal fluidd, blood and wound the most growth bacteria was coagulase negative staphilococcus, from the urine Es-chericha coli, from deep tracheal aspiration. Klebsiella pn monia, and from venous catheters Pseudomonas au-reginosa was mostly showed reproduction.Conclusion: S. aureus, CNS and P. aureginosa were mostly isolated bacteria in neurosurgery intensive care unit. Nosocomial intensive care unit infections can be decreased by appropriate preventive measures

Abstract: Dermal sinus tracts have been reported all along the midline neuroaxis, with the majority being located in lumbar and sacral areas. They are usually associated with split cord malformations, tethered cord and inclusion tumors (dermoid, epidermoid, teratoma). Dermal sinus tracts with concomitant dermoid or epidermoid tumors are frequently associated with recurrent meningitis, but spinal subdural abscess is rare. The authors report a 2 years old boy with lumbar epidermoid tumor, late onset Proteus mirabilis meningitis and spinal intradural abscess, who had a history of a dermal sinus tract removal one year before his admission. The importance of early diagnosis, proper surgical and medical treatment and close follow up in such patients is stressed.

Synthesis and Extraction Studies of Calix[4]-Crown-4 Oxime Derivatives [PDF]

Abstract: The article comprises synthesis of calyx[4]-oxa-crown, and calix[4]-thia-crown compounds containing nitrile groups (3a, 3b) and amino groups (4a, 4b) and their corresponding oxime derivatives (5a, 5b) and liquid-liquid extraction studies of these compounds. The oxime derivatives of compounds (5a, 5b) have been synthesized by reacting of di-n-butylamino derivatives of calix[4]-oxa-crown, and calix[4]-thia-crown compounds (4a, 4b) with amphi-chloroglyoxime in methanol-THF. Their cation and anion transfer studies were performed by using liquid-liquid extraction procedure. It has been concluded from the observations that the compound 3a shows a good extraction behavior toward Na⁺ ion in the presence of other metal cations. Whereas, its oxime derivatives transfers all of the metal cations used in the liquid-liquid extraction studies.

Abstract: The aim of this study is investigating the Levels of Strain, From the Point of Various Variables (according to gender, branch, working at a job which provides financial gain, the reason to prefer the teaching profession, the number of digests of related field which have been followed, the frequency of weekly using internet, the aim of using internet, the frequency of weekly utilization from a library at studies related with branch, and the number of read books monthly) , at Their Efforts of Obtain Information of Preservice Teachers’ of Secondary Education. Study carried out by general screening model and data has been collected by content validity and reliability has been through a survey. The opinions of 115 teachers were included in the study. The scale developed by the researcher used in the research. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale has been determined as .968. The value of the normal distribution of the data set as 6.57. Preservice teachers’ in their efforts to obtain information, the information needed to identify, access to information, assessment, use and in this process to consider the ethical and legal values of stages have been forced from time to time. Preservice teachers’ views on the strain level did not vary according to personal characteristics. Preservice teachers in the social field to learn to work less hard than Preservice teachers in the fields of science and mathematics. Study skills and habits of the prospective teachers to learn to be scraped in pre-service education and in-service training of vocational qualifications to support this have been proposed.
